The Mapping Configuration Tool helps you prepare your store for API, Magento, Shopify, or any flat file in the retailer format. This tool enables you to define a correlation table between your “product” information and the required attributes on ShopSimon™. Once the initial mapping is created, the only other time you will need to use the Configuration Wizard is when new product categories are being added. Do not use the Configuration Wizard for regular imports.
View the mapping wizard here:
ShopSimon™ Portal: Settings > Catalog Mapping > Use the mapping Wizard
Follow the below steps to complete the mapping process:
1. Import Product File
Please review our required attributes and make all necessary adjustments to your data before starting the import process. Also, be sure your file is in CSV format and encoded as UTF-8. Once ready, select the file to import and click “Send.”
2. Categorization
The next step shows a preview of the product and offer data you just uploaded. There are a couple steps brand will need to take:
- In the "Categorization" pane, click the “Column corresponding to the category” dropdown and select a column to define as category.
- If you used a separator between your categories and subcategories in your file, specify it in “Subcategory separator.” (Ex. Mens/Mens Clothing)
- Check the “Preview of your categories” to make sure your categories are correctly organized.
- Click “Next Step.”
3. Category Mapping
The 3rd step using the Mapping Configuration Wizard is to map each of your Catalog categories into the corresponding ShopSimon™ Marketplace category.
To map your Catalog categories, simply click on the Automap symbol next to a category to run the auto-mapping of your categories. All categories spelled the same way will be recognized and mapped automatically.
Drag & Drop the remaining categories from your catalog to the comparable categories of ShopSimon™. Once you mapped a category, it will appear grayed out in the tree and the category label to which it is mapped appears in brackets - see below for an example.
To cancel the mapping click X next to the category. To modify mapping, click on the “Mapping To Do” button then on the + next to the category you want to modify.
Use the Categories To Map section in the lower left corner to monitor status.
Once you have mapped all the categories you get the "All categories have been mapped" message and the "0 categories to map" message appears at the bottom left hand side of the screen - see below for an example. Click "Next Step."
You do not have to map all your categories to move on to the next step. You can focus on only the categories that are linked to products you want to import. Click ‘Next Step’ once this work has been completed.
4. Attribute Mapping
The 4th step using the Mapping Configuration Wizard is to map each of your catalog attributes to the corresponding ShopSimon™ Marketplace attributes.
Similar to category mapping, you will first start with using the Automap function and then move on to the manual Drag & Drop. You must map the red mandatory attributes or none of your products can be imported.
The ‘My Attributes’ section shows all column names from the file that was imported into the wizard.
The ‘Operator Attributes’ section shows all the categories that were mapped to the seller’s catalog categories. You can hover over each attribute to what the ShopSimon™ requirements are for that attribute. To cancel the mapping click X next to the attribute.
Use the “Attributes To Map” section in the lower left corner to monitor status.
Once you have mapped all the attributes you get the " All attributes have been mapped." message and the "0 attributes to map" message appears at the bottom left hand side of the screen - click ‘Next Step.’
5. Value Mapping
The 5th step using the Mapping Configuration Wizard is to map the values that correspond to your product attributes. If you have mapped an attribute to a ShopSimon™ attribute that has a value list validation, you must map your values to ShopSimon™ values.
Similar to category mapping, you will first start with using the Automap function and then move on to the manual Drag & Drop.
The ‘My Values’ section shows all the attributes with value names from the file that was imported into the wizard. Select the attribute to display the list of possible values. To cancel the mapping click X next to the attribute.
The ‘Operator Values’ section shows the normalized value names that your values will need to be mapped into.
Use the “Values To Map” section in the lower left corner to monitor status.
Once you have mapped all the attributes you get the " All values have been mapped." message and the "0 values to map" message appears at the bottom left hand side of the screen - click ‘Next Step.’
6. Define Rules
The 6th step allows you to create mapping rules for your product data.
Examples include:
- Add a capital letter at the beginning of each sentence.
- Make the designer name all UPPERCASE.
- Remove HTML from all your descriptions.
- Add regular or constant expressions to all attributes with value lists.
- Ex. For all cells with no gender, you can enter “Unisex” in the empty cells which will enable you to map them to the “Unisex” value.
To create rules, in the ‘My Attributes’ section click on an attribute. The pane on the right will show information about the attribute. Click ‘Add’ to add a Transformation or Validation rule.
If you add several rules, drag and drop them in the order in which they are applied.
Click ‘Next Step’ once you have added all rules you wish to apply to your product data.
7. Summary and Validation
The 7th and final step allows you to review the steps to see if the data has been accurately imported.
At this point, the system only checks if your categories and mandatory attributes are mapped to those of ShopSimon™. The real screening of the file is done after you click ‘Import My Products.’
If some categories or attributes are rejected, you will have to start that phase of the mapping process again. To do so, simply click on “previous step.”
Once you have completed the review process click ‘Import My Products’ to complete the Mapping Configuration Wizard.
